It’s not yet Thanksgiving, but as I am sure you are quite aware, you must amass your Christmas season paraphernalia well before the end of November. As soon as Santa comes riding in at the end of the Macy’s Parade, it’s time to pull out the garland and Christmas tunes.
It seems that every artist who has lasted more than three years has recorded a Christmas album, putting their little twist on the typical Christmas fare. Maybe you get the winter blues just trying to wade through all of the same-ol’-same-ol’ to find some music that fits your style of Christmas season. Well, you are in luck. I am going to give you the perfect playlist for the month of December. It’s made up songs from the whole range of tunes out there, from the newest indie spins to the most cherished classics.
For your benefit, I have made the master list public on Spotify, so you can get instant access! On top of that, this week I will be publishing separate Christmas playlists that break these songs down based on your preference and mood, in case you prefer one specific genre of holiday music. My recommendation: come Boxing Day, put your Spotify on shuffle, and let “Merry Christmas to All” help you usher in the season.

Krall is a staple in the Ashby home, and her jazzy take on these classics will have you feeling ready to share some hot chocolate under the light of the Christmas tree:
Otis Redding “White Christmas” from A Soul Christmas (1968)
This isn’t one of those after-the-fact compilations. This is the genuine article–a Christmas album of soul artists in their prime recorded in 1968. Check out this track:
Over the Rhine “Snowed in with You” from Snow Angels (2007)
This is one of the best non-traditional Christmas albums out there. Bergquist makes Christmas hurt so good!
